CaraGreen Expands TorZo Territory Into DC and Maryland

CaraGreen now represents TorZo Sustainable Surfaces in DC and Maryland. The additional territory comes as a result of CaraGreen’s success with the product in NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, and FL. CaraGreen has secured specifications in projects ranging from corporate offices to restaurants. Sales Manager, Lisa Feldman commented “We are more enthusiastic than ever about TorZo’s products. They have a stellar sustainability profile, interesting aesthetic, and the company continually innovates.” TorZo sheet goods are manufactured from agricultural by-products, such as sorghum straw and wheat, as well as recycled wood. Their proprietary acrylic infusion process transforms these sheets into hard and very durable surface material suitable for horizontal or vertical applications in both commercial and residential environments. TorZo will take part in the Design Expo at the AIA National Convention in Washington DC next month. Stop by their booth, #1808, and see their materials firsthand. UltraTouch Cotton Insulation Batts Now Perforated For Easy Installation

UltraTouch recycled denim insulation, available through CaraGreen, has just gotten easier to install. A portion of the batts in each package now contain perforations allowing you to easily size the batt to the dimensions needed. The perforations enhance the installation experience and have no impact on the nature or performance of the product. The perforation pattern was developed to provide the most common "off size" pieces with the least amount of cutting. "We talked to installers and the one thing we heard was they wanted a product that was easy to cut," said Sean Desmond, Sales/Marketing Manager for Bonded Logic. "UltraTouch is a substantial product, givin g it great thermal and acoustical performance. By adding perforations, we make it easy for anyone who wants to use an eco-friendly product to size and install it.”

UltraTouch Denim Insulation is available in R-13, R-19, R-21 and R-30. The denim insulation is sourced entirely of post-consumer blue jeans. It can help earn LEED credits for recycled content, rapidly renewable content, and low emitting materials.

Request An UltraTouch Denim Insulation Grant

UltraTouch denim insulation, Cotton Inc., and CaraGreen are teaming up on a grant program that provides insulation to architects and contractors that are working on community-based green buildings, such as museums, schools, and libraries. The program is meant to address the needs of these groups and help build green communities across America. As a result of our denim drives over the past few years, nearly a million square feet of R-13, R-19, R-21 and R-30 insulation are available for grants. Using UltraTouch can contribute to 12 LEED credits. UltraTouch is made from 85% post-consumer recycled and rapidly renewable cotton. It also offers maximum thermal performance and superior soundproofing (30 to 50 percent increase in acoustical performance). And, it has no VOCs, is safe to the touch and, as a result, can be installed without goggles, respirators and gloves. Contact CaraGreen for assistance with your grant application or fill out the application online. Grants are available now through Sept. 30, 2011.

Ultratouch Now Uses Post-Consumer Recycled Content

One of the building industry’s most environmentally friendly products just got a whole lot greener and a bit less confusing. UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation, commonly referred to as “recycled blue jean insulation”, is now sourced entirely of post-consumer blue jeans instead of the post-industrial denim scraps it was previously made from. The recycled jean material has made its way through the used clothing chain without being sold and has reached a point where it would typically either go to a landfill or be incinerated. Now, this material will be put to good use in UltraTouch cotton insulation.

Additionally, UltraTouch’s packaging has been improved to increase its product per truckload by 15 percent. This significantly lowers the product’s carbon footprint and makes shipping easier.

For more information on UltraTouch, which can contribute to 12 LEED credits, contact CaraGreen.
