Bark House

All Bark House Products are made in Western North Carolina by Highland Craftsmen.  Their offerings include:

-Poplar Bark Siding - This Cradle to Cradle certified siding is made from bark obtained from sustainable foresters in the Appalachians harvesting yellow poplar for the plywood and furniture industries. They obtain bark that would otherwise be discarded, or ground into low-grade mulch, and instead turn it into a unique and long-lasting finish material. These shingles can be used both inside and outside and have been used by companies such as Bass Pro Shops and Duke Medical. Bark shingles can last up to 80 years and are maintenance free. Large Poplar panels are also available.

-Bark Panels or Bark Laminate Products - made from white pine, white and yellow birch, and pin cherry.  These can be used for interior paneling, wainscoting, facing doors and furniture, shelving, and other projects.

-Large Wood Slabs, Stumps, and Stems - often used for furniture, mantles, railings, and decorative accents. They also have an assortment of trim pieces such as handrails and moldings.

Highland Craftsmen embodies sustainability as a company.  They work to create a near zero waste facility with scraps from their operation being given to the city for use as mulch. No water is used to manufacture their products and any energy they consume is offset with renewable energy credits.  And, they are a B Corporation, meaning they meet very comprehensive standards for social and environmental performance.
