Deck The Halls!

Too early?  Not for PaperStone’s new textured panels:  DiaDeck and DiaScreen.  A new take on the popular surfacing material adds a pattern to the surface, on one side or both, that allows it to be used for decorative vertical or horizontal surfaces.   The criss-cross pattern also allows skid resistance for stair treads and flooring as well.   Samples are available now, and all colors are available in DiaDeck and DiaScreen options. Fa la la la la la la la la!

RLS - We Really Like this Stuff

We are excited to see Plyboo’s line of panel products – Reveal, Linear and Sound.  These carved panels are not only aesthetically attractive, but can offer some sound control options as well.  Using Plyboo’s standard bamboo sheets as an artistic template, the sleek carvings give the material a texture and depth unlike many other panel goods.  For more information, email

Madonna Was Wrong!!

It sure didn't feel like we were living in a material world at GreenBuild last week.  The show standouts for materials were PaperStone, IceStone, and Kirei who were showing what is in vogue for sustainable finishes.  Cosentino was there with their Dekton and ECO lines, and there were a few other regional players, but overall the interior finishes were underrepresented.

But, what an opportunity to shine!  The architects and designers were clamoring to see the new textured finishes from PaperStone and some of their new "beta" colors as they test the market appetite for their new palette.   IceStone displayed their new two-toned Gotham Grey - which was emphatically received by the "who's who" of the architecture world.  Kirei had a stunning display of EchoPanel in its vibrant colors and shapes on display. We are very excited to roll these out to our customer base over the next few months.  And don't worry Madonna - we are still crazy for you too.

We Love It!

A big welcome to the popular TV show Love It or List It, which is filming its first US-based season in our backyard – Raleigh-Durham, NC.  We are very excited to play host to Big Coat Productions, as they film the 11th season of the couple-conundrum of choosing to “Love It” - and keep their home after the designer does her magic within the allowable budget - or “List It” and move on to a new home.  Keep an eye out for the amazing interior renovations for inspiration for your next projects.

A Walk in the Woods with Bark House

Nestled in the North Carolina mountains, Spruce Pine is a quaint little town where our manufacturing partner - Bark House - is located.  We visited their location last month to see all of their beautiful materials in production and to tour the facility.  Bark House prides itself on not only providing sustainable materials, with their Cradle to Cradle certified products, but also by being a sustainable company.  Bark House is a B Corporation and they have solar panels that offset the amount of power they use.   Bark House uses every piece of the tree possible which results in some amazing, unique pieces that you can't find anywhere else.  We got the chance to see how the bark is peeled, flattened and dried.  We also had the chance to see their new "Leathered" Pin Cherry panels, which are made by peeling back the first layer of bark to reveal the layer in between.  In the spirit of its commitment to “no waste,” Bark House donates scrap wood from their processes to the elderly in the community for fire wood.    Next time you venture to the North Carolina mountains, stop by Spruce Pine and visit Bark House.
